Laparoscopy

The laparoscopy center procedure allows a doctor to see inside the body. During fertility testing, the
the doctor evaluates the ovaries, fallopian tubes, and uterus to determine if they function
correctly.

Laparoscopy can help a doctor to diagnose conditions that may affect fertility, such as:

  • Fibroids
  • Endometriosis
  • Blocked fallopian tubes
  • Adhesions
  • Ovarian cyst
  • Structural abnormalities of the reproductive system
  • Unexplained infertility

How is it performed?

Laparoscopy center is performed in a hospital under anesthesia. Laparoscopy surgery needs only a small incision on the abdomen. Sometimes, two or
three more small cuts are made so that other thin surgical instruments can be used to make repairs or move the organs around for a better view. Through this cut, a needle is used to fill the abdomen with carbon dioxide gas. This provides room for your doctor to see the organs and move the surgical instruments. The surgeon places the laparoscope through the cut to look around at the pelvic organs. The surgeon may also biopsy tissue or test.

Visual evaluation of the pelvic organs and the surrounding abdominal organs is done and the pelvis is examined to see the presence of cysts, fibroids, scar tissue or adhesions, and endometrial growths. A dye is injected through the cervix to evaluate if the fallopian tubes are
open. If there are any adhesions .those are removed.

Laparoscopy is very useful in cases of unexplained infertility.
